30th Naatya Kala Conference, Sri Krishna Gana Sabha

(Recipient of Padmabhushan award from Rashtrapathi) 

Sri Krishna Gana Sabha’s Naatya Kala Conference(NKC) is a very important event during the Chennai Art festival season in December. 
30th annual NKC will be held between 26th and 31st (six days). Nrityachoodaamani Smt. Shanta Dhananjayan will be the convener for the 30th & 31st NKC.(for two years). 

This year’s conference will focus on the “Abhyaasa-Sampradaaya (evolutionary developments in the last century ) culminating in today’s repertoire and presentation of the five major system of traditional Naatya namely Bharatanaatyam, Kathakali, Kuchipudi-naatya, Odissi-naatya and Kathak-naatya. A living legendary Achaarya will lead each deliberation.

Jointly conducted summer NAATYA ADHYAYANA GURUKULAM (Residential camp) from April 25th to May 5th 2010.

This two weeks’ intensive Naatya training Gurukulam under the direct supervision of the living Bharatanaatyam legends NAATYAACHAARYA V.P. DHANANJAYAN & SHANTA DHANANJAYAN and other senior teachers from Chennai & Kerala focussed on systematic practice of Naatya from morning till evening. The curriculum included practical, theoretical, aspects of Naatya and music, Yoga, Gita Patanam, Bhajans and interaction with great personalities in different walks of life. The camp gave students of all age groups a comprehensive idea on Bharateeya Kala and Samskaara (Indian Art, culture and spirituality) .

Remembering and paying humble tributes to KRISHNAVENI LAKSHMAN on the historic day. An exclusive Naatya Nivedanam was offered by "Padmabushan" Shanta Dhananjayan and lineage of Krishnaveni Lakshman - Gayatri & Balagurunathan (daughter & disciple), at Sri Rathnagirishwarar temple, Besant Nagar, on Wednesday, 13th January, 2010, at 6.30 p.m.

On the fortieth anniversary day both of them performed together in front of thousands of their admirers and connoisseurs at Varasiddhi Vinayakar Koil, Besant Nagar.
