IMPORTANT SOLO / DUET PRESENTATIONS
DHOORJATI NATANAM
It is a song
from an old Telugu literary work called Doorjati Nadinchanei, which also
has a description of the navarasas. It is done as a 15-minute item done
as a solo or a duet, involving a lot of Shiva’s poses frozen as karanas
to depict the various dance poses of Nataraja.
It is rendered
as a Ragamalika. The item portrays Nataraja's dance in the twilight or
Pradoshakala with the gods themselves providing the melodic accompaniment.
| "His regally
definitive stomping and adroit mastery of a wide variety of powerful poses
stood in contrast to the sweet adoration offered by his wife Shanta as
Parvathi"

Natanam' of the Dhananjayan Duo was a refreshing number and has not been
seen before on the Delhi stage."
