The Dhananjayans gave a lec / dem at 9.30 am in the Natya Darshan seminar convened by Sudharani Raghupathy and Chitra Visweswaran under the auspices of Kartik Fine Arts at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. The seminar will drew attention to some of the rare forms that do not often find platforms.

The Dhananjayans presented a scene from the MAHAABHAARATAM as part of lecture demonstration organized by Kartik Fine Arts on 20th Dec at 10 am at Mylapore Fine Arts Auditorium.

Sathi Devi presented a lecture demonstration on 16th Dec at the Music Academy as part of the annual art festival and another one at the Dakshinachitra, beyond Thiruvanmiyur in connection with their anniversary celebration.

A RARE FEMININE DANCE THEATRE FORM FROM KERALA
The Samskritam dance theatre of Kerala known as Koodiyattam - the antiquity of which goes back to 1500 years was declared by the UNESCO as one of the master pieces of the heritage of man kind, in the year 2000.

Nangiarkoothu is the feminine counterpart of this unique and exquisite dance form. This is probably the only performing art form that granted equal importance to women from the earliest times. This is a solo dance form which is enacted by an actress in the "Nirvahana" or recapitulation method of Naatyasaastra presentation.

Margi Sathi Devi is one of the most acclaimed name in this rare art form and Bharatakalanjali students and alumni will have the privilege of watching this art form almost in its natural temple surroundings at the precincts of Bharatakalanjali dance hall.

SRI KRISHNA CHARITAM (episodes from Srikrishna's stories) was enacted on 15th December at 10.30 am.

Bharata Kalanjali troupe presented SHIVA-SHAKTI-VEL and NANDANAAR CHARITAM at Bharat Kalachar on 14th December as part of the annual Dance and music festival.

The Dhananjayans’ Bharatakalanjali, Chennai presented SHIVA GEETI-MAALA, a Bharatanaatyam programme for the fund collection venture for the renovation of Shiva Temple.

(A composition of Maharaja Swathi Thirunal: an invocatory group dance describing the beauty of the cosmic dance of creation)

2.SHIVA-SHAKTI-VEL: a dance feature narrating the birth of Vel-Murugan

3. NANDANAAR CHARITAM (Dance Drama)

4. SHIVA - SHUBHA - STHUTHI ( Mangalam)

November 19 - 20, 2002 Thiruvananthapuram
Bharatanatyam artists trained in Bhaaskara participated in the Soorya festival in Thiruvananthapuram. Meenakshi Ravi (a student of Sreelatha Vinod), Deepti Vishnu Bharati and Shafeekudden.B. K ( from BHAASKARA Art center in Payyanur,) performed on 19th and 20th November 2002. Soorya is celebrating its silver jubilee this year.

This prestigious performance offer given to Bhaaskara was in recognition of the high standard Bhaaskara has achieved in a short span of three years. Shanta Dhananjayan along with Bharata Kalanjali musicians conducted these Guru-sishya parampara series organized by Soorya as part of their silver jubilee celebration.

Bharata Kalanjali presented SAA or AVAL by London based Bharatanatyam dancer Nina Rajarani and Kathak dancer Pali Chandra on November 18, 2002 at 7pm at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Pushkala Gopal one of the senior most disciples of Bharata Kalanjali has scored the music for this acclaimed dance production, apart from the famed Shankar Mahadevan and Shivamani.
