some of his special abhinaya pieces, touching upon why classical Bharatanaatyam
lacks layman's attention and also drew attention to the degeneration of
Abhinaya aspect in younger generation of Bharatanaatyam artistes. |

Srivalli
or Kaadal Valli Kanda Murugan written by Periyasamithooran and music composed
by Turaiyour Rajagopala Sarma & Madurai T Sethurman and choreographed
by the Dhananjayans in 1974-75 is one of the most successful dance creations
of the Dhananjayans, was reproduced by their Japanese disciple Daya Tomiko
with her own Japanese disciples on 29th October 05 (two shows). This was
presented in connection with "Thanmaye Natyalaya's" 15th anniversary (founded
and run by Daya Tomiko) on 29th October, in Kyoto, Japan.
In
the first half of the program, Daya Tomiko performed Bharatanaatyam with
her Gurus, The Dhananjayans and Divya Sivasundar. The dance drama Valli
Thirumanam (Srivalli) was the second half of the program.
Apart
from Dhananjayan, Shanta & Divya (main dancers), Bharatakalanjali musicians
Sasidaran (Vocal), Rameshbabu (Mridangam), Sunilkumar (Flute) & Bhavani
Prasad (Veena) also participated in the production.

guidance of the Dhananjayans. This time the Dhananjayans have put
him under the tutelage of the couple - dancers & teachers, Hariharan
& Pramila. During this short period of his stay he had the great privilege
of participating in the productions of Prof. C.V. Chandrasekhar and
also performed in Chennai festivals, Badodara and Ahemedbad. Having completed
an intensive advance course successfully, Seran offers this Naatya Nivedanam

of Chennai scholars and connoisseurs. |
