a true dance drama, with dance, music and drama as intrinsic components. The Dhananjayans and Rathna actively communicated with the audience in their colorful roles as musicians, narrators and dancers, using both English and Indian languages.

The Dhananjayans performed for WASHINGTON SMITHOSNIAN INSTITUTE, with the painting exhibition on “ Kings & Queens of India”.
Venue: Meyer Auditorium

India's legendary dance couple, V. P. and Shanta Dhananjayan, demonstrated how the classical South Indian dance form bharata-natyam conveys a character's important qualities. They focus on royalty in Indian history: Emperor Ashoka the Great, who converted to Buddhism in the third century B.C.E.; his daughter Sanghamitra; and Rani Laxmibai, a nineteenth-century warrior queen of Jhansi who died fighting the British.

Thirukkural Bharatam in London

"Thirukkural Bharatam" choreographed by The Dhananjayans and produced and performed by the Pathmarajah sisters - Kavita, Meera & Anjana - was presented in London and a few other cities in Europe under the auspices of "VISIONS"(UK)

The European premier took place in the prestigious theater LOGAN HALL on 3rd June 06. This presentation was a fund raising event for children's educational charities in India and Sri Lanka and Sri Nandalala Seva Samithi Trust in London was one of the collaborators in this event.

Sri. V.P.Dhananjayan & Shanta Dhananjayan were the guest of honour for this event to flag off the "Thirukkural Bharatam " in Europe. June 3rd program marked the 10th performance of Thirukkural Bharatam since it's great successful world premier last year in Chennai on 11th and 12th June 05.
Thirukkural Bharatam was presented for the World Tamizh conference in Washington on 9th July 2005.

Bhaaskara (Art & Education Trust) and Bharatakalaanjali, Chennai jointly presented Thevaki K(Devaki) and Sulogini K (Sulochani) in their maiden performance of Bharatanaatyam on 22nd April 2006 Sunday at 7 to 8.30 pm, Varasiddhi Vinayakar Koil, Besant Nagar, Adyar. Thevaki and Sulogini have been undergoing intensive training under the scholarship scheme of the Bhaaskara (Art & Education Trust) for the last three years Both of them are from the orphanages Jeevajothy & St. John's Girls Home Batticola, Srilanka and sponsored from the special endowment fund provided by Dr. Pathamarajah family. Rev. Fr. Jeyanesan (St.John's Church) and Mr. Ilanko (Founder Director, Jeeva Jothi children's home, Battikola Srilanka) were the guests of honour.

BHARATAKALANJALI & FINE ARTS SOCIETY, YOGAVILLE, VIRGINIA, USA jointly presented a unique ecumenical thematic Naatya presentation SATYAM SIVAM SUNDARAM, based on the teachings of H.H.Swami Satchidananda "Truth is one, paths are many" by an excellent team of Bharatanaatyam artistes trained in FAS Yogaville by The Dhananjayans and their prime disciple Padmarani Rasaih Canto under the auspices of Narada Gana Sabha (Chennai) as part of the December Art Festival 2005.
