Bharata Kalanjali Academy, 2007 International Young Performers Tour
Creative Connections presented twelve talented 12 to18 year-old Indian dancers from the Dhananjayans� Bharata Kalanjali Academy to the Tri-State area this autumn. With their colorful costumes and jewelry, beautiful music, and vibrant dancing, the troupe transported audiences to their homeland of India, a land rich in culture and traditions. This children's cultural & Educational delegation was led by Smt.Sumathi Sriram ( The senior most disciple of the Dhananjayans, Bharatakalanjali alumni /teacher ) Smt. Sumathi Sriram & Divya Siva (Guru: The Dhananjayans) performed, gave lecture/demonstrations. They visited and interacted with school children of the Tri-State of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, USA.

Items of performances included: folk and classical Bharatanaatyam repertoire. Two special short stories were specially choreographed to show moral values in life.

Punyakoti (Animal stories-cow & linoness) Mohini Bhasmaasura (Mythology), Folk dances like Bhangada, Santhali, Raasa and Kurathikummy, representing north to south and east to west of India.

The Bharata Kalanjali dancers presented three public performances (including one in collaboration with Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk), as well as fourteen performances and sixteen workshops scheduled for grade schools in the tri-state area. An estimated 7,000 youngsters participated in these interactive programs.

In connection with SRUTI magazine's annual award function SHANTA & DHANANJAYAN presented " ABHINAYA SANS ACCOMPANIMENTS"
-An experimental presentation with just vocal support only. Sruti had chosen two concert-singing stalwarts to sing for this special session of Abhinaya pieces. The senior musician and specialist in Padam singing Smt. M.S.RAMA RAVI sang for Shanta and Sri. T.V. RAAMPRASAD (a brilliant concert singer) sang for Dhananjayan.

YOGAVILLE , VIRGINIA GURUKULAM CAMP
The Dhananjayans have been conducting Gurukulam, an intensive Naatya training camp at Yogaville since 1988. This has been a trend setting annual cultural event in the US since then attracting several students from all over the globe.

The 19th annual Naatya Adhyayana Gurukulam camp in Yogaville Virginia was held from 30th June to 5th August.

On June 10th, 2007 Dhananjayan and Shanta Dhananjayan were in Seattle. They visited the students of Bharatnatyam in 'From Within' school and shared their thoughts and experience on a number of topics of interest to the assembled students and their parents.

BHARATANAATYAM SUMMER CAMP AT BHAASKARA PAYYANUR, Kerala
Bharatakalanjali jointly with Bhaaskara Art & Education Trust had conducted a Bharatanaatyam training camp at Bhaaskara campus in Payyanur Kerala. After 3 years, The Dhananjayans have revived the summer camp with great success. Nearly 45 students attended this two weeks camp. This residential program at the heavenly hill of Trikutteri is an experienced to be cherished. Yielding to the request of the enthusiastic crowd present at the final day performance, Dhananjayan announced to consider their request to continue to hold periodical camps hereafter.

NAATYA ABHISHEKAM FOR WORLD PEACE & RELIGIOUS HARMONY:
THE DHANANJAYANS' BHARATAKALANJALI presented a Bharatanaatyam presentation titled NAATYA ABHISHEKAM on 28th April (Saturday) 7-8.30 p.m. at Varasiddhi Vinayakar Koil, Besant Nagar. A few of the senior students of Bharatakalanjali performed Bharatanaatyam group items choreographed by the Dhananjayans.
The young talents of Bharatakalanjali who participated: RESHMA, JYOTSNA, PREETHI DURGA, VANI, SHARANYA & MADHAVI.
Accompanying musicians: SHANTA DHANANJAYAN & M.VENKATAKRISHNAN(Nattuvangam) RAJESH,(Vocal) KARTHIK(Mrudangam) ESWAR(Violin) and Sekhar( tambura)
Specially choreographed refreshing repertoire of the Dhananjayans were presented which included Naatyaanjali, Ramayana Sabdam, Nrutyopahaaram on Kartikeya (by Jayamangala Rajalakshmi), "aadidum arasei" a rare composition on Nataraja by Prof. S. Ramanathan, Chaliye kunjaname (a Hindi composition of Swathi Tirunaal), and the celebrated Nruttta-angahaara composition of late Turaiyur Rajagopal Sarma.

Madras University, Dept of Malayalam hosted their annual KPAC golden Jubilee endowment lecture cum demonstration on Tuesday the 10th April, 11 am at the Platinum Jubilee auditorium Marina Campus. Bharatanaatyam Artiste and Guru Sri. V.P.Dhananjayan delivered this year's (2006-07) lecture demonstration on the subject of "Naatyarasa and essence of aesthetics" in performing arts.

A few of the senior artistes of Bharatakalanjali lead by Smt. SANDHYA MURALI performed Bharatanaatyam group items choreographed by the Dhananjayans.

Dhananjayan gave a lecture demonstration on Indian Art & Culture for the benefit of the members of the Rotary Club of North Madras. He informed the Rotarians the huge economic contribution our classical performing arts are making to the nation. He also impressed upon them � who are from the commercial and industrial section of the creamy layer of the society � the importance of supporting the cause of classical arts which preserve our ancient culture.
