The Fine Arts Society of
Satchidananda Ashram -
Yogaville, Virginia,
celebrated the silver
jubilee celebration of
the Natya Adhyayana
Gurukulam.
The morning started with
Homam at Kailash,
followed by a seminar,
discussions and video
presentations of old
alumni. An excellent
free feast was provided
to nearly 500 people who
came from far &
wide. Ambassador Ms.
Nirupama Rao was
represented by her
Consular Ms.Sukriti
Likhi who said it is her
fortune that the Embassy
chose her to be there
for this enlightening
function in the evening.
After lighting the
traditional lamp with
Panchavaadyam ensemble
followed by Naadaswaram,
Ms. Sukriti adorned the
stage and felicitated
Rukmini Rasiah, The
Dhananjayans &
Padmarani, the pillars
of the Naatya Adhyayana
Gurukulam of Fine Arts
Society. The teachers
who have been sending
their students to the
Gurukulam were honoured
for their services to
promotion of Indian Art
& culture in the US.
The staff members who
have been giving
voluntary services and
helping the FAS to
conduct these most
successful summer camps,
were also recognized and
awarded mementos.
The Dhananjayans were
presented with a plaque
of honor for "LIFELONG
ACHIEVEMENT " by The
Fine Arts Society .
After a meticulously
organized function - the
participants of the
first batch of the
silver jubilee year
presented a short
version of the AIKYABHAARATAM
production consisting of
classical & folk
dances of Bhaaratam,
much to the appreciation
of the excited and
enthusiastic audience
gathered from different
parts of the country. A
global community was
represented with several
Ashramites attending the
function.

The book was released by

Muthusamy Varadarajan

and the first copy was
received by Pt.Birju
Maharaj (Kathak
maestro).
The book reveals the
difficulties faced by a
male dancer in
establishing himself.
While telling the most
romantic love story of
how Dhananjayan met his
wife Shanta, it
considers whether his
success depended on his
being one half of a
dancing couple. Tracing
the central story of
Dhananjayan as a
brilliant performer and
guru, his collaboration
with Pandit Ravi
Shankar, his meeting the
Beatles George Harrison
among other eminent
people, it also narrates
the stories of many
other male dancers.

Dhananjayans' , Tulsi
